  19. <p>     The soap opera of the superrich, Haft family's feuding should
  20. be enough to make at least one publisher rush out a quicky version
  21. of the tangled tale of father vs. son and love turned sour.
  22. Wrong. One author's proposal has been turned down by an astounding
  23. 18 publishers, and a couple of other writers have been shut
  24. out. Seems some properties are too hot to handle: nobody wants
  25. to be iced out of the Haft's giant Crown bookstore chain--or to get on their hefty list of those being sued.
